2022 Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4

It’s a jungle out there. By “there,” I mean out in the competitive world of compact SUVs. From the redesigned 2022 Hyundai Tucson to the 2022 Toyota RAV4, companies across the world keep knocking it out of the park by delivering class-defining vehicles.

A perfect example of this pioneering is the 2022 Tucson, which was rebuilt from the ground up with the driver in mind. It’s quickly drawing attention across the industry for its head-turning exterior design, excellent array of features, and upgraded safety — all at a price that can’t be beat considering the returns.

Read ahead to see why the 2022 Hyundai Tucson belongs atop your wishlist, even ahead of top competitors like the Toyota RAV4.

Introducing the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Say hello to the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, the latest iteration of the compact SUV that’s undergone a complete facelift as Hyundai looks to take its competitiveness to the next level.

With the 2022 Tucson, Hyundai essentially tore it down to the studs and rebuilt it with the company’s new, bold approach in mind. It sports a powerful, aggressive exterior that should have its fellow compact SUVs cowering in fear. Overall, its futuristic look will remind you of the exciting direction automobiles are headed in right now.

It’s not just the exterior, though. Hyundai also redid the cabin, equipping it with plenty of standard features and driver-assist technology. There are also plenty of customization options available, including at the powertrain level — the standard gasoline engine can be replaced by a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Hyundai didn’t pull any punches when they put together the new Tucson. Now it’s time for prospective buyers everywhere to reap the rewards of Hyundai’s hard work.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: Price

Considering everything that comes loaded into the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, its starting price of $24,950 MSRP is a pleasant surprise. Despite being completely redesigned with a plethora of standard features, it competes with other top compact SUVs with a reasonable price tag.

On top of that, Hyundai didn’t play it safe with the amount of trims available on the 2022 Tucson. Altogether, there are nine different variations of the all-new Tucson, ranging from the standard SE to the top-of-the-line Limited, with a couple of hybrid and plug-in hybrid options thrown in for good measure.

Even the most expensive trim, the Hybrid Limited, will only run you $37,350 MSRP, which is a steal with all of the bells and whistles built into that eco-friendly option.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: Top Features

While it won’t be confused with a sports car anytime soon, the Tucson’s standard 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine boasts a respectable 187 horsepower and an automatic, eight-speed transmission. Four-wheel drive is also available.

Step inside the Tucson and enjoy all of the modern conveniences you’d expect in a 2022 model. The Tucson features a beautiful 8.8-inch infotainment display, although upgrading to the 10.3-inch version takes the elegance factor to another level. The sleek dashboard and digital gauge cluster also draw the eye, while the redesigned rear seating area and cargo space provide even more room for your stuff than in previous models.

Oh, and we can’t forget about the driver-assist features. Technology like automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist are all standard. Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist is also available. All of this means that the 2022 Hyundai Tucson handles the safety side of things, allowing you to drive with a heightened sense of security.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: Other Specs

The non-hybrid models of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson are estimated to get around 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Meanwhile, the hybrid plug-in model is expected to go 32 miles without needing to tap into the gas tank.

2022 Hyundai Tucson: Warranty

As if everything we’ve already discussed wasn’t enough, Hyundai also provides a market-leading warranty with the 2022 Tucson that puts the competition to shame. Along with the limited warranty that covers five years of 60,000 miles, it also comes with a powertrain warranty that covers 10 years or 100,000 miles.

To top it off, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson also delivers complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles. When it comes to value, you can’t ask for much more out of a warranty.

2022 Hyundai Tucson vs. Toyota RAV4: A Comparison

Beating out the Toyota RAV4 won’t be easy, but the 2022 Hyundai Tucson will certainly do its best to tackle the competition.

The RAV4 starts at $27,425 MSRP, meaning the Tucson has a sizable edge in the price department. It also only offers six trim levels, although the most expensive (the TRD Off-Road) is slightly cheaper than the top-of-the-line Tucson.

The two compact SUVs are very similar in terms of interior design and technological niceties, both featuring sleek dashboards, digital gauge clusters and spiffy infotainment displays with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. However, the Tucson again gets a slight edge with its more spacious interior and the fact that it’s base infotainment display is larger than the RAV4’s upgraded display.

The RAV4 does sport a more powerful engine, but has the look of a truck masquerading as an SUV. Compared to the Tucson’s futuristic design and bold lines, it’s hard not to give Hyundai the nod when it comes to aesthetics.

2022 Hyundai Tucson vs. Toyota RAV4: The Verdict

Realistically, these two compact SUVs are nearly neck-and-neck. If you’re nit-picking to come up with a winner, though, it has to be the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. It offers superior exterior appeal, a larger infotainment display, and more space to haul family, pets, etc. And you get all of that for less dough. Sounds like a win-win situation.
